The Port Authority Bus Terminal is the primary destination for interstate busses in Manhattan and is the busiest bus terminal in the world serving over 65 million people a year. The terminal opened in 1950 in the International Style to consolidate several private terminals. A half-block expansion to the north was constructed in 1979. A ramp leading out of the eastern end of the building allows direct access to the Lincoln Tunnel.
