Middle Temple's originates as a portion of the headquarters of the Knights Templar, which was occupied by lawyers since 1320 after the dissolution of the Templars. The Inn served as a college for lawyers for several centuries until 1852. Since then it has primarily served as baristers' chambers and meeting areas.
