Part of Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Constructed in 1964 as the home for the New York Mets which it hosted for 45 seasons. The stadium was named after William A. Shea who is responsible for bringing the NLB back to New York. Opening only a few days before the 1964–65 New York World's Fair across the street, the stadium featured steel panels decorated with the colors of the fair until 1980. The stadium was demolished in 2009 after the construction of adjacent Citi Field and turned into a parking lot.
