A 6-acre park and plaza situated between 5th & Madison avenues which opened in 1847 and was named after President James Madison. The park includes art exhibits, a Shake Shack, a fountain, and an enclosed dog park. Madison Square Garden took its name from the park when its predecessor situated just north of the park. At the south end of the park stands the famous Flatiron Building marking the start of the Flatiron District.
