The Barclay Hotel is a 14-story luxury hotel constructed in 1926 for the Vanderbilt family by the New York Central Railroad on land recently freed up when the Grand Central Terminal tracks where moved underground. In 1978 the hotel was sold to Loews Hotels after the bankruptcy of its previous owners and underwent a massive renovation. The ground floor of the hotel hosts the flagship story of the perfumer Caswell-Massey which has occupied that space since the hotel opened.
