Mike Wheeler and his friends get tormented by some bullies and then are interviewed by the principal about Will's disappearance in episode 1x01 “Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Beyers”. Dustin and Lucas talk about Eleven in episode 1x02 “Chapter Two: The Weirdo on Maple Street”. The gang looks for slingshot rocks in episode 1x03 “Chapter Three: Holly, Jolly”.

One of the goons from the lab comes to investigate the AV club for clues on the kids' identity.

The whole gang assembles at the school to build a sensory deprivation tank to allow Eleven to peer into the void.

The kids hide in the school from the folks from the lab who are quickly attacked by the Demogorgon.

Mr. Clarke introduces Max to the class and the party follows her around to see if she is the Max from the arcade.

Eleven finds herself in the Upside Down after defeating the demogorgon last year and manages to find a way to escape back into reality. Back in the present day, the party arrives at school to find no one else is wearing a costume.

Dustin shows up to class late and invites his friends to meet in the AV room to show off his creature.
Chapter Four: Will the Wise
Joyce searches the school for Will and finds him in the field screaming.

The kids attend the Snow Ball in the middle school gym.

Nancy looks for signs of Barb at school and Steve learns about Jonathan's photographs in episode 1x03 “Chapter Three: Holly, Jolly”.

Max, Dustin, and Steve break into Counselor Kelley's office to get files on Chrissy and Fred.

Robin and Nancy arrive at the school to find everyone reacting the Max's vision.
